52 weeks of colour part deux — week 6, alice blue

How do you have a colour named for you?

(Just a quick picture this week as some RL stuff has distracted me.)

I’m always content if I’m learning while being entertained. I look up unfamiliar words played in WordFeud so they are more than letters arranged in a line; it’s hard to forget ‘wox’* played with the ‘x’ in a triple-word corner, let alone trying to recover from a ‘yojan’ crossing several multiplier tiles.

So, being an enthusiastic but slightly ignorant Antipodean when it came to the reference to Alice in Alice blue, I had a great time learning about Alice Roosevelt Longworth and the trend she started for the pale blue-grey named in her honour. I’ve worn this dress before in a blog post, however, it wasn’t part of the 52 weeks of colour challenge and is new (again).

  1. I love WordFeud but everyone I know seems to play Words with Friends, my names cneajna on WordFeud if you want to play.

I just found out about Alice Roosevelt, you did beautifully with this week’s color.

  2. I love the butterflies with your ethereal dress! And yeah, I also learned about Alice Roosevelt only a week ago when I wikid the colour and found the explanation. Love learning new things!

  3. Shay, thanks so much. I just saw your pictures pop up on my blog feed and I’m amazed — I’ll be over there soon to comment!

Ani, the Words with Friends interface was designed by three-year-olds after too much sugar. It’s just terrible and the Android version is too buggy to tolerate. I’ll send you a play request but don’t use ‘wox’ on me!

Sonya, the colours have been so interesting in this challenge already! Thank you for your lovely comment.

Nic, hello and thank you so much. It was a fun week and I’m enjoying the challenge so much.

Arya, thank you, too. This is one of my favourite dresses and I’m still wearing it inworld.

Rudh, THANKS! You’re so sweet and I love your kind words :-).

  4. That is such an ethereal picture, absolutely love it! (But now you have me wondering how many yojans per hogshead my Prius gets.)

  5. Lau, thank you so much and big yay for butterflies :-).

Sama, that explains why I’m usually broke and not usually blonde!

Lashae, there’s nothing wrong with a Alice in Wonderland reference — she deserves her own blue as well :-).

Bourbiedoll, when in doubt, the answer is 42, although Mr Adams hadn’t accounted for the mileage of the Prius :-).

Ayako, thanks so much for your lovely words.

ygrey, thank you for your comment — it’s the season for romance apparently.

Sam, welcome and thank you very much.

Eliza, thank you, and WordFeud is madly addictive although I’m learning lots of interesting words.

Moniq, welcome and thank you <3.

Lexia, thanks for visiting and they're great shoes that go with almost anything .

Nevery, thank you for the 'like'
